V2G stands for Vehicle-to-Grid, a technology where your electric car not only absorbs energy, but can also return it to the electricity grid or your home. Your car becomes a mobile energy storage.

V2G Liberty is battery friendly. The system prevents calendar ageing by never leaving the battery very full or very empty for a long time. There is of course some increase in cyclical wear, but the powers are relatively low compared to what the battery can handle. We have had a number of cars that have been V2G examined by the ANWB for a long time - this has shown no additional battery wear.

Many electric cars are suitable for bidirectional charging. Currently, the application is limited on many types because there is no compatible charger available yet. A universal charging stand is being worked on. Chargers/cars that use this are expected in the coming year. Many cars can be made compatible with a software update.

Yes, for V2G you need a bidirectional charging station. Currently there are three types that can be used in combination with V2G Liberty: The Fermata FE20 (CHAdeMo / Nissan Leaf), Evtec BiDiPro (CCS2 / VW/Skoda/Audi of 77kWh), Ambibox (compatibility unknown). There are more bidirectional chargers but they are "closed" and cannot be controlled by yourself, the control then lies with the car/charging station manufacturer.

V2G Liberty users charge on average for €0.09/kWh. For comparison: the average dynamic rate is €0.29/kWh, a fixed contract costs around €0.40/kWh. In practice, users save between €1,000 and €1,500 per year on their charging costs.

You can always indicate that you need the car via the app. The app then ensures that sufficient charge is available. You can also set your own minimum battery level so you can always make the ride you want.

Yes, V2G Liberty works with all dynamic energy contracts in the Netherlands.

V2G Liberty runs on Home Assistant, but you don't have to be an expert. I help you with the installation and configuration, and offer remote support if necessary.

Home Assistant is an open source platform for home automation. V2G Liberty runs as an add-on within Home Assistant. You need a small computer for this, such as a Raspberry Pi or a Home Assistant Green. Don't worry if this is new to you - I'll help you with the installation.

Yes. V2G Liberty works in all EU countries with day-ahead contracts, including Belgium, Germany, Norway, Sweden and Denmark. In the United Kingdom it works with Octopus Energy, in Australia with Amber. We are further expanding support.
